The elevator cab is an honest brief. Small space, short dwell time, no room for a material that needs context to work. What goes on the wall either earns its place or it doesn’t.
These two installations came through Retro Elevator in Florida, both specified from the Lumi-Onyx Classic collection. Same application, different rooms, different answers.
The first cab pairs Madrid with dark walnut panelling and brushed brass trim. The white ground and amber pooling sit warmly against the wood without competing with it. The brass picks up the amber in the panel. Backlit across two stacked panels on the rear wall, the cab reads as warm and considered without a single spotlight aimed at the material. The floor is geometric marble. The panel ties it together from above.

The second went the other direction. Akhmin White against a darker surround, backlit as a single full-height panel. Near-white surface, soft grey veining, sculpted patterning that only reveals itself up close. When the light is on behind it, the panel becomes a uniform field of warm white light with the pattern reading as a watermark underneath. The effect is architectural. The cab glows without declaring itself.

Two designs, two moods, same collection. Both designs are available on polycarbonate substrate, Class A fire-rated to ASTM E84. For elevator applications where code compliance is part of the spec, polycarbonate is the standard recommendation. Made to order in Montréal in 10 to 15 business days.
